UK Radio photographic collection, ca. 1930-1950.

The UK Radio Photographic Collection depicts the historical developments of radio, not only at the University of Kentucky, but in the state of Kentucky as well. From the early WHAS broadcasts to performance and educational programming at WBKY to the delivery of radios to communities in Eastern Kentucky, this photographic collection provides a visual perspective the role of broadcasting in the development of Kentucky. The bulk of this collection consists of 891 black and white silver prints of persons who handled the day-to-day operations of the university radio station, related social events, as well as events that occurred at the University of Kentucky, and the productions of programming in the radio studios and live broadcasts from the studio and the field. In addition, the collection contains 32 color slides depicting events surrounding the creation of listening centers in Eastern Kentucky.
